Giving Day Program Lutheran High School has designated two special days each school year as “Giving Day”. The first one is held in December, and the second one is held in the Spring. Feel free to contact the school office at (916) 691-2277 or info@lhselkgrove.com to find out how you can help Lutheran High School make a difference in our community on the next Giving Day.
December
Lutheran High School’s December Giving Day is a very special school-wide and community-wide service event. In early November, the students are separated into 6-7 groups, and each group adopts a local family in need. Students collect gifts, decorations, money for Christmas trees, and food items from family, friends, and the local Lutheran church community.
On Giving Day, each group goes out to their adopted family’s house. They take the Christmas trees if they need one (and help them set it up), decorations, food, and gifts. If there are children, they help them decorate cookies and play with them. The kids also help with work around the home if needed.
All donations are welcome and accepted for: gift cards (i.e., Target, Walmart, Safeway, etc.), non-perishable food items, Christmas decorations (especially tree decorations including lights). Please call the office at (916) 691-2277 if you would like to make a donation for Giving Day,
Spring
Lutheran High School’s Spring Giving Day is an opportunity for the students to go out into the Elk Grove and Greater Sacramento community to help with clean-up projects at local parks or community gardens, assist the local food bank, and various other similar activities.
