Lutheran High School has welcomed students from all over the world since 1996. Currently almost one-third of our entire student population is made up of young people from countries such as Vietnam, Korea and China. It offers great cultural exchange between the students as well as an opportunity to witness to one another.
International students looking to attend Lutheran High School need to adhere to the following process:
Submit IS Admissions Application form, IS Questionnaire, Financial Disclosure Statement, Parent Questionnaire, Student Recommendation, Guardian Agreement, and International Student Statement of Financial Responsibility to Lutheran High School. The student’s official transcript also must be translated into English by an accredited school translator and submitted with the admissions paperwork. Application Fee ($50) and Placement Testing fees are due at that time.
Parent or stateside guardian then needs to contact the Principal to schedule a telephone interview with the potential student to determine his or her command of the English language. This interview will take approximately five (5) minutes.
Student will arrange to call Mr. Maddock, Principal, for a phone interview. The phone interview is arranged via email. Mr. Maddock's email is jmaddock@lhselkgrove.com. The school phone number is 916-691-2277.
Upon passing the phone interview, an I-20 will be issued. The I-20 and a Letter of Acceptance will be given to guardian for shipment to the student.
Student will arrange an interview at the U.S. Consulate to get a VISA. (See the website in regards to the interview).
Students who are coming to LHS for the first time or who haven't taken the summer EL Program need to be here by 7/9/12. Cost for the summer EL Program is $2,000.
Tuition for the year is due by August 1.
Lutheran High School has no boarding facilities. International students must make their own arrangements for staying with a local host family while attending the high school. Students who need help in locating an appropriate host family must make this clear to the school at the beginning of the admissions process. The high school may assist applicants in finding a host family. However, placement through the school cannot be guaranteed.
